THIS SEASON:Sophomore Steven Cherry begins his second season of competing in the pole vault for USC
2012: Cherry posted a season best mark and a personal record in the pole vault at 13-11.25 at the annual dual meet improving his personal record by over 5 inches
HIGH SCHOOL: Cherry attended Charter School of Wilmington where is he is Delaware D1 State Champion in the Pole Vault. He is also the high school indoor and outdoor school record holder.
PERSONAL: Cherry was born on November 23, 1992 in Clayton, Delaware. He is a Neuroscience major at USC…His brother, Will, also attended USC…He lists Liam Neeson as his favorite actor and The Fringe as his favorite TV show..Biggest sports hero is Ray Lewis because of his leadership qualities and his faith…He enjoys playing soccer and hacky-sack during his free time.

PERSONAL: Louie was born on May 26, 1994 in Pasadena, California…His parents are Chip and Linda and had two siblings, Avery and Ari…He is a biophysics major at USC…Enjoys backpacking and reading during his free time…His favorite foods are sushi and curry…Hopes to one day get into Med School and become a cardiac surgeon.

SEASON: Freshman Ariel Hayward looks to add depth in the Pole Vault this season
HIGH SCHOOL: Hayward attended Century High School in Minnesota. She was an All-State and All-Conference selection as well as the Conference and State Record holder in the Pole Vault. At Century, she was an academic all-state selection and a scholar athlete who graduated in the top 1% of her class. She founded Voice to Voice, which is a community service organization partnered with her choir group and Ronald McDonald House,

Felicia Horvath

THIS YEAR: Freshman Felicia Horvath is a 13-foot pole vaulter from Hungary who would rank second on USC’s all-time list if she made that clearance this season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Horvath is a 2012 graduate Szinyei Merse Pal in Budapest, Hungary. She tied for third in the pole vault at the 2009 World Youth Championships in Bressanone, Italy with a clearance of 13-1.50 (4.00m). She took eighth in the pole vault with a clearance of 12-11.50 (3.95m) at the European Team Championships in Izmir, Turkey on June 11, 2011. Horvath won the pole vault competition at the Hungarian Senior Track & Field Championships in Budapest on March 4 with an indoor PR of 13-3.50 (4.05m). She then placed third in the pole vault at the 2012 Hungarian Athletics Championship with a clearance of 12-9.50 (3.90m).
PERSONAL: Felicia was born on July 7, 1993 in Budapest, Hungary..Her parents are Agnes and Agoston and she is an only child…Likes listening to music and foreign languages…Her favorite band is Smokie…Her sports hero is the great pole vaulter Yelena Isinbayeva…Lists her favorite food as Chinese and would like to visit China one day…Is active in the Drama/Theatre Club….Her goal is to compete at the next Olympics in Rio.

THIS SEASON: Redshirt junior Thea Weiss will add depth in the pole vault.
2012: Weiss recorded a lifetime best in the pole vault at the dual meet jumping 11-6.50 (3.52m).
2011: Weiss redshirted her first year at USC after transferring from UC Berkeley.
BEFORE USC: Weiss attended UC Berkeley and competed in the pole vault before transferring to USC
HIGH SCHOOL: Attended Granite Hills High School and was the Valedictorian of her class.
PERSONAL: Weiss was born on January 8, 1991 in Apple Valley, CA…She is double majoring in Neuroscience and English…Both her parents (Eric and Mary) and grandfather attended USC…She enjoys biking, reading horoscopes, and playing with cats…Her favorite rapper is Dr. Dre and her favorite movie is V for Vendetta…She was elected to the PAC-12 All-Academic First Team in 2012
