MOSKVA, Russia — Jeremy Scott’s bid for a IAAF World Championships pole vault medal came to an abrupt end after the 1999 Norfolk High School graduate failed to qualify for the finals here Saturday. Thirteen of the 40 competitors advanced to the finals. Jan Kudlicka of the Czech Republic and Renaud LaVillenie of France were the only two to clear 5.65 meters (18-6½) winning Group A and Group B, respectively. Eight vaulters in Group A and three competitors in Group B, including Brad Walker of the United States, cleared 5.55 meters (18-feet, 2½ inches) to advance to Monday’s finals. Competing in Group B, Scott cleared 5.25 (17-2¾) on his second attempt, cleared 5.40 meters (17 feet, 8½) on his first attempt before missing all three of his attempts at 5.55 meters. more
