Fishers, Indiana –It is typically unusual to hear news about the Hamilton Southeast High School track team this early in the year. However, HSHS pole vaulters are already hard at work conditioning for their competition season in March. In fact, they have been conditioning since June—when last year’s season ended. “Unofficially, we train year round. I run a club in the summer and the HSE kids get a huge discount. We had 100 percent participation this year,” pole vault coach Collin Gayde said. “Then when school starts we condition. There are a few breaks during the year before we start competing in March.” While more than 15 people are currently taking part in conditioning, Gayde estimates that cuts will leave the team at about 12 people. This is to give athletes more opportunities to compete. “Our goal every year is to have a state qualifier and then go on to place at state. And we always want to beat Carmel,” Gayde said. – See more at: http://www.hseorb.com/sports/2013/11/18/hshs-pole-vaulters-are-already-hard-at-work/#sthash.uLuApvi4.dpuf
