Tennessee has qualified eight for the NCAA track and field championships, including three in the men’s pole vault, after two days of the NCAA East Regional in Greensboro, N.C. And two former area high school standouts will join them in Eugene, Ore. UT’s Jake Blankenship, Chase Brannon and Tyler Porter were all perfect through 17 feet, 3/4 inches in the pole vault on Thursday at North Carolina A&T’s Irwin Belk Track. Brannon, who was third at the SEC championships, missed his first attempt at 17-2.75, but his two teammates cleared the bar. Blankenship and Porter ended in a four-way tie for first place with no misses. Brannon cleared 17-2.25 on his next run and ended up in 11th. more
