Strictly based on rumor Bo Haddock may not be attending Paradise Valley Community College, but instead attending Arizona State. True or not this points out a dilemma all vaulters face down the road. In Bo’s case, if he goes to PVCC, he will be coached by one of the best coaches in the nation and with his 16-2 high school vault be able, as a freshman, to win or place in the medals and both indoor and outdoor Junior college nationals. If he vaults at Arizona State, he will be a small fish. He will enter as the fifth best vaulter at ASU and somewhere around 20th in the PAC-12 and will need to be in the high 17s to go to nationals. Maybe Bo is thinking beyond the vault. Maybe by going to ASU he will either not vault or make it his “hobby” while he persues life after vault. This is the dilemma many vaulters face when they think of college; put the vault on the front burner or back burner or turn off the burner.
