Texas –GRJHS eighth grader Amalie Brewer has maintained her busy schedule ever since her Lady Tiger track and field season ended, and it’s paying big dividends. On June 30 while competing in the AAU Area 21 Junior Olympic National Qualifier, Brewer won the silver medal with a vault of 8’6” in the 13-14 girls’ division. Just six inches from a gold medal, Brewer’s performance qualified her for the 2013 AAU Junior Olympic Games in Detroit on July 30.On July 5 in Humble, Brewer competed in the USATF Region 12 Junior Olympic Track and Field Championship. She finished third with a vault of 8’6”, as the gold medal winner cleared 9’6”. This result qualified the 13-year-old for the 2013 USATF National Junior Olympic Championship in Greensboro, NC on July 23. “When Amalie started vaulting back in February, I was just hoping for a successful seventh grade track season,” said her mother Lindsey Brewer. “She won district and we were thrilled.
