Costas Filippidis won his second IAAF Diamond League meeting this season after snatching the top spot in the men’s pole vault at the event in Lausanne on Thursday. The Greek champion cleared 5.72 meters to leave behind him all the major names in the sport such as Raphael Holzdeppe, Malte Mohr and Renaud Lavillenie. This victory has lifted Filippidis to the top of the ranking of pole vault that at the end of the season will give the winner a sizeable diamond. Filippidis also holds the national record with 5.82 meters. He tried to clear this height again on Thursday, but failed in all three attempts. more at Kathimerini
