San Rafael, California –What she did: Dailey continued her stellar debut season by taking first overall at Thursday’s meet (21:16) against Terra Linda and Marin Catholic. A basketball, soccer player and pole vaulter who only took up cross country at the start of fall, Dailey also won the D-V race at the Stanford Invitational back in September.
What she said: “I had no expectations going into (the season). I’m really surprised with how I’ve done. … Soccer and basketball have given me a great mentality to get through races.”
What’s next: Dailey and the Bulls (5-2) head to the Mt. SAC Invitational on Oct. 24, then compete in a four-team league meet with Drake, Justin-Siena and San Rafael on Oct. 30. “I’m excited to see how we stack up (at Mt. SAC),” Dailey said. “I’d like to continue doing well.”
“She’s always eager to learn and is just unflappable. For someone that new to be that calm during races, it tells me a lot about her mindset.”
