Vaulter is Seahawks Week Six CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week

SEATTLE and RENTON, Wash. - The Seattle Seahawks, CenturyLink, Inc. (NYSE: CTL), Q13 FOX (KCPQ), and Sports Authority announced today Tia Thomas of Federal Way High School as the week six CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week. Tia will be at CenturyLink Field during the November 2 game against the Oakland Raiders. Tia, a senior at Federal Way High School, was selected to be the Athlete of the Week based on her dedication to academics, community involvement, leadership, and athletic performance. Tia has maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA throughout her high school career despite taking a challenging course load and being an active participant of the AVID program. She also serves as the mentor coordinator for Federal Way’s Ignite mentor program. Tia is a three-sport athlete who placed fourth in the state in diving, seventh in the state with her floor routine in gymnastics, and seventh in the state pole vault for the track team. She also captains all three teams she participates in. She volunteers her free time working as a kindergarten assistant at her mother’s elementary school. She also participates in food drives for causes, including We Day. As the CenturyLink High School Athlete of the Week, the student-athlete will also be recognized at their school in front of their family, peers and teachers. They will also receive a $1,200 gift card supported by Sports Authority from CenturyLink and the Seahawks for their school’s Athletic Department, in addition to media recognition, tickets and sideline passes to a Seahawks game, and a customized 2014 Nike Seahawks jersey.  more
