LAKEWOOD, Colorado — Even though it was not what he expected, Alamosa High School senior Samuel Bilderbeck has a second chance as he finished second in the Class 3A pole vault on the first day of the Colorado High School State Track and Field Championships here at Jefferson County Stadium in Lakewood. Bilderbeck, last year’s state champion in the event, cleared 13 feet, 9 inches. He entered the competition as the No. 2 ranked vaulter after he cleared 15 feet in last week’s Intermountain League Championships.
