ANA-MPA – Greek athlete Katerina Stefanidi, 24, won silver in pole vault at the 2014 European Athletic Championships, which are taking place from August 12 to 17 in Zurich.
The young woman from Filothei, north of Athens, vaulted over 4.60 metres to come in second. Anzhelika Sidorova came first (4.65) and Angelina Zhuk-Krasnova third (4.60); both are from Russia.
It is only the second time Greece gets a medal in pole vaulting at the European games. Another Greek athlete, Nicole Kyriakopoulou, came in 7th, with 4.35 meters. more
