Sheffield, England –Pole vaulters Adam Hague and Abigail Roberts, both from the Dearne ALC club where they are coached by Trevor Fox, were in outstanding form at the English under 23 and under 20 championships at Bedford over the weekend. Both won gold in the under 20 age group.Hague cleared a superb personal best of 5.30 adding 10 centimetres to his outdoor mark. This ranks 10th amongst UK seniors this year and fifth on the all time under 20 list. Not yet 17, Hague beat arch rival Harry Coppell (Wigan) by 5 centimetres. More important it was a qualifying mark for the Worlds Junior Championships in Eugene, USA, in August. For Roberts, 16, it was a closer call. She won on countback with 3.85, 10 centimetres below her best. more
