EUGENE – Texas A&M’s first team points at the NCAA Championships were picked up in the men’s pole vault during the first day of action in front of 9,165 fans at Hayward Field. The Aggies also advanced eight entries to finals during semifinal races on Wednesday.Wolfle picked up 3.5 points in his tie for fifth in the pole vault as he cleared 18-0.5 (5.50). Wolfle is the fourth Aggie to finish fifth in a NCAA Championship pole vault and becomes the first A&M vaulter to score at the NCAA Outdoor meet since 2001.“It was a little frustrating, since I’ve had some pretty good practices lately,” noted Wolfle. “To finish fifth in this field of vaulters is unreal and was a lot of fun. It’s definitely a different atmosphere and it’s crazy out here. We had a perfect tailwind today and the weather was great.“That was my goal, to get out here and score some points. I want to be part of something big with Texas A&M and this track and field team. I wanted to score points and help out.” more
