LASALLE, Canada – The crowd had long since thinned out and the final event on the track was wrapping up when Herman Green Griffins’ Devan Primeau finally got his shot at the record books Thursday. For the 17-year-old Primeau, a chance to break the senior boys’ pole vault record at the WECSSAA track and field championships was a little unique considering he being coached on how to better the mark by the record holder. “We joked about it all the time,” Primeau said. Kevin DiNardo was just 18 years old when he set the mark in 2000 by clearing 4.23 metres while competing for General Amherst on the same runway at the Robert Carrick Complex. Thursday, it was a small change suggested by DiNardo that enabled Primeau to clear 4.24 metres and set a new mark. more
