A state record was broken on Saturday by a member of the Franklin High School track team at the 2-A State Championship at NC A&T. Franklin senior Danielle Brown reached 11 feet, 2 inches in the pole vaulting competition—beating the previous North Carolina record of 10 feet, 6 inches. Brown was the only athlete from western North Carolina to claim an individual championship at Saturday’s meet.
