ARKANSAS CITY – Hutchinson Community College pole vaulter Andrew Pope pulled off a rare double sweep on Saturday at the 2014 Region VI Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Cowley College. Pope’s repeated as regional champion in the pole vault on Saturday. That completed the rare double-double indoor-outdoor sweep for the Blue Dragon sophomore, who also won the Region VI indoor pole vault championships in both of his competition years. Pope was the only regional champion for the Blue Dragons. Already qualified for the NJCAA National Outdoor Championships in Mesa, Ariz., in two weeks, Pope locked up the automatic bid with a regional championship clearance of 15 feet 3 inches.
