Key West High comparison Erik Vinson pole-vaulted a personal-best 14 feet to take initial place during Wednesday’s Region 4-2A lane accommodate during a Ansin Sports Complex in Miramar. He moves on to a state accommodate May 2 during a University of Northern Florida in Jacksonville.
Vinson, whose prior best was 13-6, changed into a third-place tie on a Conchs’ all-time vaulting list — Hunter Potalivo set a record of 15-6 in 2007, Mike Weber privileged 14-8 in 2004 and Mike Fain did 14-0 in ’05.
Only one other Conch modernized to a state accommodate — and that also was a stick vaulter. Zachary Lightfoot finished third with a safe of 13 feet. Lightfoot is seventh on a all-time Conch list.
