Senior Sarah Bechtel (Bellefontaine) won her fourth consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference pole vault championship to lead Ohio Wesleyan during the first day of the NCAC championship meet, hosted by Denison University on Friday in Granville.
Ohio Wesleyan was leading the meet with 62½ points to 44 for Oberlin. Denison was in third place with 40 points, followed by Allegheny (29), Wittenberg and DePauw (16), Wooster (13½), and Kenyon (12).
Bechtel won the pole vault by clearing 11-7¾. The conference championship was her fourth in a row, making her the first woman in NCAC history to win 4 straight indoor pole vault titles.
All-NCAC honors also went to senior Antoinette Jolliff (Cardington/Cardington-Lincoln), who finished third in the pole vault. more
