MANHATTAN, Kan. — Ryin Brandt, a 2009 Paola High School graduate, won the KCAC title in the pole vault Feb. 7, clearing 14 feet, 1.25 inches. Brandt, a senior at Ottawa University, was injured earlier in the season, and this was his first meet back. It was quite the return for Brandt, who not only won a medal, but came away with the conference championship in the pole vault. He won the 2013 KCAC indoor pole vault title, clearing 14-4. In 2012, for the third season in a row, Brandt earned All-KCAC honors in the pole vault with a mark of 12-5 for sixth place in the conference meet. Brandt was a two-year letter winner in track and field in high school with the Paola Panthers. He also earned a letter in football. Ryin is an exercise science major.
