BOZEMAN – Two members of the Montana track and field program broke long-standing school records Friday night at the Montana State Double Dual.
Redshirt senior Keith Webber went 17 feet, 1.5 inches to break Adam Bork’s pole vault record of 17-1 from 2002. Freshman Reagan Colyer burst onto the scene with a raw time of 2:11.04 that broke Michelle Barrier’s 800 meters record of 2:11.06 from 1989.
It seemed inevitable Webber was going to break the pole vault record. He opened the indoor season last month going 16-10.75 at Eastern Washington and just missed breaking 17 feet on Jan. 17 in Bozeman.
Adding to the intrigue of Webber’s record is the fact he’s coached by Bork.
“It’s nice to have a record, but it’s also satisfying as a coach to see it broken by someone you’re working with,” said Bork, who still owns the outdoor record of 16-10.75, at least for another few months. “I knew he could do it.” more
