University of Cincinnati senior pole vaulter Josh Dangel shined in the spotlight at the 2014 Pole Vault Summit in Reno, Nev. as he tied a career-best height to win the College Division on Saturday. Dangel impressed all at the Pole Vault Summit by winning the College Division and tying his career-best height of 17’ 8.5”, which he set during the 2013 NCAA Outdoor Championships. He now moves into second on UC’s all-time list just half an inch behind Chris Smith, who set the school record at 17’ 9” in 2005. Since the meet was not an NCAA sanctioned event, his mark will not count towards qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships or the American Athletic Conference Championships. Currently, Dangel ranks 15th in the NCAA with an official clearance of 17’ 3.75”. If his mark from the Pole Vault Summit would have counted, he would be ranked seventh in the NCAA. Dangel and the rest of the Bearcats are back in action next weekend as they head to the Rod McCravy Invitational in Lexington, Ky
