BATON ROUGE — LSU pole vaulter Brianne Bergeron, a former H.L. Bourgeois standout, was selected as the Shaquille O’Neal Life Skills Program Student-Athlete of the Month for May. The Cox Communications Academic Center for Student-Athletes honored Bergeron for her volunteerism and commitment to the community. Bergeron was recently named to the Tiger Twelve by the Office of the Dean of Students. She is a three-time representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Council and serves as president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Bergeron also spent two week-long mission trips in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake and is an active member of the LSU Ambassadors. She received the LSU Scholar-Athlete Director’s Cup for Academic Excellence at the 2013 Tiger Athletic Foundation Academic Excellence Gala, and she earned spots on the SEC Spring Academic Roll two consecutive years. Her achievements continue in her athletic performance, as during the recent LSU Relays, Bergeron set a lifetime personal record and claimed the No. 7 spot in the school rankings with an 11-8 clearance. more
